Yesterday Alicia and I traveled to Tijuana, Mexico to see Dr. Ramirez for another booster injection. Dr. Ramirez injected 2 million umbilical cord cells altered to become "Pro-Neural" cells and another type of cells that would help remylinate my nerve fibers. Dr. Ramirez also gave me a 50 ml bottle of nerve growth factor for 1 ml injection per day to encourage the growth of the nerve roots/lower motor neurons. After the procedure my head was pounding a bit more than usual, but that went away with some antibiotic/saline/glucose/pain killer/muscle relaxer drip that I was put on. I am feeling well today and am planning to go back to bed and rest after I get done updating this website. On another note. Alicia and I went to another ultrasound last Tuesday and the doctor did confirm that the twins are two boys. The earthquake hit during the middle of the ultrasound and since we were on the top floor of the Balboa Navy Hospital the hospital swayed two to three feet side to side because the building is built on a suspension system. It kind of freaks you out to see the floor moving underneath of you. After the three of us(Alicia, the doctor, and I) settled down and the aftershocks subsided, the doctor said the twins are in good shape. The doctor, along with the ultrasound measurements, predicted that the twins weighed 3. 1 lbs and 2 lbs 14 oz already and we are only 29 weeks into the pregancy. Hopefully Alicia will have no problem carrying the twins full term(40 weeks) and they will both be around 7 lbs when they are born.
I am scheduled to have a booster injection on next Friday August 1, 2008 of two million human umbilical cord stem cells. I will be using a growth factor after the injection to encourage the growth of nerve roots to enervate muscles and achieve sensory functions. On another note we found out that our babies are two boys also. I was there both ultrasounds when we were told the sexes and the first ultrasound really did look like there was a girl and this one definitely looked like two boys. Who knows we might end up having triplets.(LOL)
Dr. Ramirez finally called today and it seems that he was out of town for a while. We are trying to schedule a day for the injection approximately two weeks from now.
